ต้ม

v. 1. to boil;

to be boiled; 2. to swindle, to dupe.

ขนมต้ม- a sweetmeat made by enclosing sugar in a dough batter rolled into a ball;

ต้มกลั่น- to distil; ต้มกะทิ- a curry made of sliced salted meat or fish, boiled in coconut mulk, with tamarind and onions added; ถูกต้ม- to be the victim of a trick.

ผักต้มที่ต้มมากไปจะมีรสจืด Overcooked vegetables are tasteless.

ผมชอบข้าวต้ม ไม่ใช่ข้าวสวย I like boiled rice, not dry-cooked rice. เขาถูกผู้หญิงสวยคนหนึ่งต้ม He was duped by a pretty woman.
